Our History

The Framemaker was founded in 1987 in Cork. The business started life in a garage, before moving to our first official store in Douglas, just outside Cork City. Shortly after this, we moved from Douglas to a new premises on Cook Street in the heart of Cork City. And we are pleased to say that after more than 30 years, and thousands of customers, we still call 36 Cook Street home.

A significant moment occurred in 2004 when we built and opened our second premises in Carrigaline. This purpose built facility not only features a 3,000 square foot showroom, but is also home to our 4,000 square foot framing workshop, a printing studio, and 3 artists studios. Together, both of these locations allow us to serve the needs of our valued customers not just in Cork, but across Ireland.

Our Services

As the name suggests, our primary business is framing. With over 30 years experience working in the framing industry, we are experts in delivering framing for a variety of customers. Utilising the latest framing machinery in our dedicated framing workshop, we have the capacity to deliver either small or large-scale framing projects.

As well as our framing service, we also offer a comprehensive printing service. Our recognition as a certified Digigraphie by Epson fine art printer attests to our excellence in printing. We utilise the latest equipment and technology from Epson to produce very high-quality Giclée art and photographic prints.

Our showrooms house a variety of original artworks and limited edition prints that are available to purchase. While we specialise in selling original and limited edition art, we have a catalogue of thousands of prints to suit every genre and style imaginable. We place a particular emphasis on local Irish art and stock original and limited edition prints from Irish artists such as Victor Richardson, John Jermyn, Kerry Collins, and Danny Smith.
